Voice Design

Voice Design creates a new voice from a description: age, accent, tone and character. Save the ones you like and use them in Speech, Dialogue, Voice Changer and more.

Design a voice

1. Open Voice Design in the sidebar.
2. In Describe the voice, write what the voice sounds like, or pick an example: Fireside storyteller, Morning radio host, Hindi grandmother, Game villain, Meditation guide, News anchor.
3. Optionally, use Build a description from traits (see below).
4. Under Preview text, pick a sample or write your own. The new voice reads this in its preview.
5. Choose Generate voice.

Designing usually takes under a minute. You can leave the page and come back.

Build a description from traits

1. Choose Build a description from traits, then Show.
2. Pick what you want:
   • Gender: Female or Male
   • Age: Child, Teenager, Young adult, Middle-aged or Elderly
   • Accent: American, British, Australian, Canadian, Irish, Scottish, Indian, Nigerian, South African, French, Spanish or German
   • Pace: Slow, Measured or Fast
   • Tone: up to 3 of warm, calm, deep, bright, energetic, gentle, authoritative, playful, raspy, breathy, mysterious, cheerful
   • Use case (optional), for example "audiobook narration"
3. Check the description it builds.
4. Choose Use this description. It replaces the text in Describe the voice.

Preview text

• Pick a sample: Storytelling, Conversation, Advert, Game character, News, Meditation or Hindi.
• Or edit the text yourself. The menu then shows Your own text.
• Choose Match my description to pick a sample that suits your description.
• Write it in the language the voice should speak.

Save the voice

1. When the design is ready, choose Play preview.
2. If you like it, fill in Save this voice:
   • Voice name, for example "Fireside Storyteller"
   • Voice type: Female or Male
   • Description: filled in from your description; edit it if you like
3. Choose Save voice.

You see "Name is saved to your voices." Then choose Use in Speech, Use in Dialogue or Use in Voice Changer.

If you don't like it:

• Edit description takes you back to the form with the same text.
• Generate again · 20,000 credits makes a new design from the same description.

Recent designs on the right lists your last 20, marked Saved, Ready, Designing or Failed.

Where you can use a saved voice

Saved voices appear in My voices in Voice Library. They are listed with your own voices in Speech, Dialogue, Voice Changer, Studio, Talking Avatars and dub edits.

Limits

• Description: 20 to 2,000 characters.
• Preview text: 50 to 500 characters.
• Save a design within 7 days. After that you see "This design has expired: designs must be saved within 7 days. Generate it again to save it."
• Up to 30 designed voices per workspace. Delete one to save another.
• Voice names up to 40 characters; descriptions up to 120.
• Cinara doesn't design voices that copy well-known people. Describe the voice itself instead.

Credits

• 20,000 credits per design, each time you choose Generate voice or Generate again.
• You pay whether or not you save it.
• Saving is free.
• If a design fails, your credits are refunded.

Tips

• Cover age, gender, accent, pace, tone and use in one or two sentences.
• Say what the voice is for: "like a bedtime storyteller", "for a fantasy video game".
• Use preview text that sounds like your real script. It shows how the voice will really sound.
• Designs cost more than most features, so refine the description before you generate again.
