Editor

The Editor turns what you've made in Cinara, and anything you upload, into a finished video or audio file. Put clips on a timeline, trim and cut them, add titles and music, or describe the edit in words. When it's ready, export it.

Open the Editor

• Editor in the sidebar lists your projects, newest first. Each card shows a frame, the length and the shape.
• New project: give it a name (or leave Untitled project) and choose a shape: 16:9 (YouTube, films), 9:16 (Reels, Shorts, TikTok), 1:1 (feeds) or 4:5 (Instagram posts). You can change the shape later.
• Edit on a result opens that result in a new project. It's on videos, talking avatars, images, songs, sound effects, voice changes, clean audio files, dubs, audiobook chapters and podcast files. In Speech and Dialogue it's Open in Editor.
• Open in Editor in a Drive file's ⋯ menu opens that file.
• Edit in History opens any finished result that has audio, video or images.

A project's ⋯ menu has Rename and Delete. Deleting a project keeps its exports in Drive and History.

The screen

• Top bar: Projects (back to the list), the project's name (click it to rename), whether it's saved, Undo and Redo, Exports, and Export with its price.
• Left panel: Prompt (edit with words), Media (your Drive) and Titles.
• Preview in the middle, with play, the time and the length. An audio-only project says Exports as MP3.
• Right panel: settings for the selected clip, or for the project when nothing is selected.
• Timeline along the bottom.

On a phone or a narrow window, the two side panels share one panel with the tabs Add and Clip (or Project).

Add clips

From Drive

In Media:

1. Search, or choose All, Video, Images or Audio. Click a folder to open it.
2. Choose + on a file to add it at the playhead, or drag it onto a track.

Pictures (video and images) go on a video track and sound goes on an audio track. If that place on the track is taken, the clip goes in the nearest free place, or on a new track.

Upload adds a file from your computer to Drive and to the timeline.

Make new clips

At the top of Media, Make new has Voiceover, Music, Sound and Shot. Each opens a window, shows its price on Make it, and adds the clip at the playhead when it's ready.

• Voiceover: type the words (up to 2,000 characters) and choose a Voice, from Cinara's voices or your own. 1 credit per character.
• Music: describe the genre, instruments, mood and tempo, or pick an example. Length starts at the time from the playhead to the end of the project; Fit to the cut sets it again. Music is made at least 10 seconds long and trimmed to the length. Volume starts at 30%, and Dip under voices is on. 300 credits.
• Sound: describe the sound and set its Length, from 0.5 to 22 seconds. 20 credits per second.
• Shot: describe the scene and the camera, and set its Length, from 5 to 15 seconds. It's made in the project's shape (a 4:5 project gets a 3:4 shot that fills the frame). With a video clip selected, Carry on from the selected clip starts the shot from that clip's last frame and places it right after the clip. From 320 credits for 5 seconds.

While a clip is being made, a dashed placeholder on the timeline says Making voiceover… (or music, sound, shot) with the seconds so far. You can keep editing. The clip lands on its own:

• Voiceovers and sounds go on an audio track that doesn't dip, adding one if the place is taken.
• Music goes on its own audio track, set to dip under voices.
• Shots go on the video track.

What you make is also saved to Drive and History. If it can't be made, the placeholder says so and your credits are refunded. If you close the page, open the project again and the placeholders carry on.

Titles

In Titles, choose a style: Title, Display, Caption, Lower third, Quote or End credit. It's added at the playhead for 3 seconds. Type your words in the right panel.

Captions

Captions from speech, at the top of Titles, captions what's said in your clips, word by word.

1. Tick the clips to caption. Everything with sound on the timeline is listed. Voiceovers and audio clips are ticked to start, and music isn't; video sound is ticked when there's no audio clip.
2. Choose a Look:
   • Highlight: a few words at a time, the spoken word in colour.
   • Karaoke: two lines that fill with colour as they're said.
   • Pop: one big word at a time, springing in.
   • Boxed: lines in a box, the spoken word in colour.
   • Subtitle: plain two-line subtitles.
3. Choose Add captions. The price is on the button.

A placeholder shows on the titles track while the speech is heard. Then a Captions clip covers the speech, following each clip even if you moved it meanwhile. The speech is transcribed at 100 credits a minute of each file. A file that was transcribed before costs nothing.

Edit on the timeline

• Move: drag a clip, along its track or onto another track of the same kind.
• Trim: drag a clip's left or right edge. Moving the left edge also moves where the clip starts in its file.
• Snap: while you drag, clips snap to the playhead, to 0:00 and to other clips' edges. A purple line shows the snap.
• Split: select a clip and press S, or choose Split above the timeline. With nothing selected, every clip under the playhead is cut.
• Delete: select a clip and press Delete, or choose Delete.
• Duplicate: press ⌘D (Ctrl D on Windows) or choose the duplicate button in the right panel.
• Scrub: click or drag on the ruler.
• Zoom: the slider above the timeline, Fit, or ⌘ with the scroll wheel.

Clips on the same track never overlap.

Tracks

Projects start with three tracks: Video, Titles and Audio. Add more with + Video, + Titles and + Audio, up to 12 tracks.

• Tracks higher in the list are drawn first, so later tracks sit on top.
• The eye button hides a track's pictures and titles. A hidden track's sound still plays.
• The speaker button mutes a track. A muted track's pictures still show.
• × removes a track and its clips. The last track of each kind stays.

Video clips show a frame from the file, and sound clips show their waveform.

Clip settings

Select a clip to see its settings on the right.

• Timing: Starts at, Length and From the file at. Type seconds (4.5) or minutes and seconds (1:02.5), then press Enter.
• Sound: Volume from 0% to 200%, for audio clips and video clips with sound.
• Fit (video tracks): Fill frame crops to fill the shape; Show all shows the whole picture with the background colour around it.
• Placement (pictures on a titles track): Size, Across and Down. You can also drag the picture on the preview.
• Fades: Fade in and Fade out, up to half the clip's length.
• Dip under voices (audio clips): Lower this track while other audio tracks play, for music under a voiceover. Level while dipped sets how low it goes (30% to start). The music eases down just before each line and back up just after it, in the preview and the export. It applies to the whole track, so keep voices on a different track, which shouldn't dip.

Captions settings

• Look: the five looks, then the font, Size, Down (or drag the captions on the preview), the colours of the Words, the Spoken word and the Box, and Capitals.
• Words: every page of captions with its time. Fix a word and press Enter. The page keeps its timing, shared out by word length.
• SRT and VTT download the project's captions as subtitle files, in readable two-line pages whatever the look.

Move, trim and split captions like any clip. The words stay with the speech.

Titles

• Words: up to 500 characters. Press Enter for a new line.
• Look: Sans, Serif, Mono or Display; Size; the text colour; Bold, Shadow and Box (a coloured box behind the words); Left, Centre or Right.
• Placement: Across and Down, or drag the title on the preview.

Titles in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean export in a font that has those letters.

Edit with a prompt

In Prompt, describe the change, for example "Make it 15 seconds for Reels, put a big title at the start and my latest song under it at 30%".

1. Choose Plan the edit. It costs 100 credits.
2. The plan shows what will change: a sentence, then each step in plain words, and the length before and after. A note explains anything it couldn't do.
3. Untick any step you don't want.
4. Choose Apply, or Discard to change nothing.

The plan's edits are one step, so ⌘Z undoes all of them. Clips the plan makes land later, each as its own step.

A prompt can trim, cut, move and remove clips; set volume and fades; add, change and restyle titles; add files from your Drive by name; mute, hide and dip tracks; change the shape and background; and make a new voiceover, music, sound or shot.

Steps that make something new show their price, and Apply says what it makes, for example Apply · makes 2 for 339 credits. When you apply, the edits happen at once and the new clips appear as placeholders until they're ready. A prompt can't change what happens inside an existing shot.

It works on the project as you see it, including changes that aren't saved yet. The playhead and the selected clip help it understand "here" and "this clip".

Shape and background

With nothing selected, the right panel shows the project: Shape (16:9, 9:16, 1:1 or 4:5), Background colour, and the length, size and number of clips. Titles and boxed pictures keep their place when the shape changes, because they're placed as a share of the frame.

Saving

The Editor saves a moment after each change. The top bar says Saving…, Saved or Unsaved changes.

If the same project changes in another tab, you see Changed in another tab. Choose Reload to get the latest version. Your browser warns you before leaving with changes that aren't saved.

Export

1. Choose Export. The price is on the button.
2. Exports opens and shows the progress: Preparing, Rendering with a percentage, then Saving.
3. When it's done, play it, Download it, or Open Drive. The export is also in History.

The export renders exactly what's on the timeline, at 1920×1080, 1080×1920, 1080×1080 or 1080×1350 and 30 frames a second. A project with nothing to see (only sound) exports as an MP3.

The export keeps running if you close the page. Open Exports in the project later to get it. Exports lists the project's last 10.

Limits

• Up to 10 minutes long.
• Up to 300 clips and 12 tracks.
• Up to 200 files in a project.
• Titles up to 500 characters.
• Prompts up to 1,000 characters.

Credits

• Export: 150 credits per started minute of video, or 30 per started minute of audio. A 40-second video costs 150 credits.
• Edit with a prompt: 100 credits per plan, plus the price of anything the plan makes.
• Captions: 100 credits per minute of each file transcribed, and nothing for files transcribed before.
• Making new clips: the same prices as Speech (voiceover), Music (an instrumental), Sound Effects and Image & Video (the Scene model).
• Editing, saving and previewing are free.
• A failed export is refunded.
